Challenge: Although The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia was rated the best in the country, the full breadth and importance of its work remained unknown to many donors, parents and the region’s decision makers.

Solution: Jana Moore produced a newsletter that emphasized the hospital’s groundbreaking research and treatment, the latest hospital news and gifts that helped transform the hospital into the nation’s best. Jana developed the concepts, wrote the copy and oversaw the design and production. Gallini Hemmann designed the newsletter.

Results: The hospital credited the newsletter for attracting many gifts, including a seven-figure donation, as well as keeping the community better informed.

Hightlighting Importance for Those Who Influence

Challenge: Eisenhower Fellowships had grown in sophistication in the past decade and many Fellows had become leaders in their countries, but few outside the organization understood its mission, and few inside the organization fully grasped its influence. The question: How to connect more fully with the Eisenhower community and draw the world’s most promising leaders to the program?

Solution:  Each year, Eisenhower Fellowships, with Jana’s help, produced an annual report that highlighted Fellows, the previous year’s events and financial information. But as the organization headed toward its 50th anniversary celebration, Jana urged EF to take a different tack, to produce a brochure that featured the people who had benefited from the fellowships and details about the programs. The brochure would last several years, saving the organization money, while the financial information could be contained in a small, folded brochure printed annually.

Results:: The brochure won widespread praise during the celebration — which included former President George Bush and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, both members of the Eisenhower community — and helped inform even some of the organization’s alumni and closest friends.
